Tour of Turkey

Day 11:  Bodrum

Jade was exhausted today, so she opted to stay at our hotel and play with all of the animals while Jason and I went out to explore the rest of the Bodrum Peninsula.  Before I tell you about that, I should mention that this hotel is gorgeous and both Jason and Jade's favorite so far during this trip.  The grounds are beautiful, the view is amazing, and we are just far enough out of the bustle of town that we're not bothered by it, and just close enough that we can get to it each night easily.  The owners are two Irishmen who have big hearts and have been caring for some of the many stray cats and dogs, so Jade was more than happy to lounge by the pool surrounded by cats, kittens, and greying dogs.

Jason and I took the car and headed out, we drove past some lovely bays with harbors, stopped at a beach club for a swim and a beer, then went on to Gumusluk, where we had a lovely lunch and napped by the lapping waters of the Aegean.

After our adventures, we headed back to the hotel to check on Jade.  We all took a dip into the pool, then Jason and I sat on the loungers overlooking the bay while Jade showered up for a night out.  We had told Jade that we would take her out to a night club tonight, so she put on a dress and was so excited.  So we headed back into town and enjoyed a lovely fish dinner at one of the restaurants serving the freshest fish imaginable, then looked for a club to duck into.  We decided to let Jade decide where we would go, but she wasn't too impressed with any of these clubs with loud music, strobe lights and half naked girls.  She said, "I think the idea of it is more excited than it actually is." So we headed home for some rest.

Tomorrow we are going to head up to Selcuk where we will meet my mother and tour Ephesus.  Sadly this means our trip is nearly over.  After Selcuk, we will be meeting some of my mother's extended family, then fly to Istanbul for our last night and then head home.
